The Cowichan Valley is located on the southeast portion of beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada. The area has long been referred to as the "warmland" as it is Canada's only maritime-mediterranean climate and boasts the warmest average year round temperature in all of Canada.
The communities in the area include Duncan, Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill, Cowichan Bay, Cowichan Station, Glenora, Maple Bay, Lake Cowichan, Honeymoon Bay, Mesachie Lake, Youbou, Crofton, Chemainus, Saltair, and Ladysmith. Of these communities the Duncan area is considered to be the hub of the valley with most of the goods and services for the areas being located here. The area is also supported by the cities of Victoria to the south and by the city of Nanaimo to the north, the City of Duncan which is the main center for the area is about a forty five minute drive to either city.
